PRCC graduates advised to set goals and keep trying

Set targets for success and keep shooting at them, state Rep. Mark Formby said Wednesday during  Pearl River Community College graduation exercises at the Forrest County Multi Purpose Center.

Formby, a former PRCC student, told the graduates and their families not to be discouraged when they fail to hit a target, using his own political losses as an example.

The following is a news release from Jones County Junior College:

Grab your swimsuit, goggles, and a towel and head to the Laurel Natatorium for a Swim Camp offered by Jones County Junior College.  This four day Swim Camp is designed for children who will be in second through eighth grade, this year.  The camp will be held June 10, through June 13, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Laurel Natatorium.

Laurel High School basketball standout Deshon Bayless signed a scholarship with Lawson State Community College located in Birmingham, Alabama.

LHS junior to compete in National Catholic Forensics League National Tournament

Laurel High School junior Ataacleve Bender qualified to compete in the National Catholic Forensics League National Tournament.

Bender will perform in the Dramatic Interpretation category later this month in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He will perform “Bein’ Crazy” by Marc Bagwell.

The Leaf Foundation announces the availability of applications for its official Miss America preliminary pageants, to be held at 7 p.m. on August 2, 2013 at The Historic Saenger Theater in Downtown Hattiesburg. This is the 10th anniversary of The Miss Leaf River Valley Pageant.
