A major intersection in Laurel undergoes construction | News

LAUREL, MS (WDAM)- M-DOT is preparing to reconstruct Exit 95B off of Interstate 59 which takes you north onto 16th Avenue in Laurel.

M-DOT officials said it is very difficult for drivers to merge onto I-59 because drivers are trying to exit off the interstate at the same time other drivers are merging onto I-59, creating hazardous conditions in that area.

Officials said the reconstruction will allow drivers to exit earlier onto Exit 95 A, helping to alleviate traffic congestion in that area.

Construction is scheduled to begin early November. 

The project is expected to cost 1.2 million dollars.
