Laurel man gives police a foot chase | News

LAUREL, MS (WDAM)- Joppa Huggins, 25, is behind bars after failing to comply during a routine traffic stop in Laurel.

On Friday, around 11 a.m., Huggins was pulled over on North 5th Avenue for allegedly not wearing a seat belt.

Police say while writing Huggins a ticket, he jumped out of his car and fled on foot heading north.

Investigators say minutes later police with help from the Jones County Sheriff's Department found the suspect underneath a home on North 3rd Avenue.

Huggins remains in the Jones County Jail charged for failure to a seat-belt, suspended drivers license, and resisting arrest.
