Chronicle celebrates grand opening | News

LAUREL, MS (WDAM)- The Chronicle newspaper in Laurel celebrated its grand opening Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The newspaper the Laurel Leader Call which shut down after 100 years.
The Chronicle's first edition hit the streets on April, 15. The paper comes out three days a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. The staff is made up with many former employees of the leader call.
One of the main goals of the Chronicle's staff is to be a community oriented newspaper.
"I want it to be a true community newspaper, a paper that promotes the community, that fights for the community, that allows our churches, our schools, have publicity about their achievements and events," said Wyatt Emmerich, Emmerich Newspapers. "We're not going to gloss over the bad news, but we're certainly going to do our best to promote the good news."
The paper is owned by Mississippi-based Emmerich Newspapers and managed locally in Jones County.
