JORT produces children’s classic for summer theatre

The following is a news release from the Just Over the Rainbow Theatre:

Just Over the Rainbow Theatre will produce the children’s classic The Prince and the Pauper as its 2013 Summer Youth Theatre.  The production will run June 28 – 30 at The Petal Arts & Humanities Complex located at 120 South George Street in Petal.

LRMA to host Thacker Mountain Radio

LRMA to host Thacker Mountain Radio

Lauren Rogers Museum of Art will host Thacker Mountain Radio, the award-winning Oxford, MS-based music and literature program, on June 22 at 7 p.m. Laurel native and author, Hunter Cole, will be featured on the one-hour program which will be recorded for air at a later date on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Other guests will include country swing band, Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue, Laurel bluesman L. C. Ulmer, and Memphis author David Wesley Williams. The show will also feature host, Jim Dees, and Thacker house band, The Yalobushwhackers.

“The Little Mermaid, Jr.” Opens Friday June 7

“The Little Mermaid, Jr.” Opens Friday June 7

Over 100 kids will hit the stage of the Arabian Theatre, June 7, for the opening of LLT’s Kids’ Camp performance of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr.,” directed by Katelyn Bryant, and the show will run through Sunday, June 9.  Come see Ariel (Lauren Hankins), Flounder (Anna Donald), Ursula (Hannah Hankins), Sebastian (Jamie Rambin), and all the creatures of the sea that are known so well from the hit Disney movie version.  Curtain opens Friday night at 7 p.m.; on Saturday there will be two performances – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday’s matinee will begin at 2 p.m.
